Virtual Veterinary Consultations
Compassionate, professional guidance for your pet — wherever you are.
When you’re worried, overwhelmed, or unsure what to do next, you don’t always need a clinic visit right away — you need clarity. Our virtual consultations provide thoughtful, experienced veterinary guidance to help you make confident decisions for your pet’s care, comfort and quality of life.
When a Virtual Consultation Can Help
Clear guidance. Calm support. Thoughtful next steps for your pet.
Virtual care is often the right place to start when you need thoughtful guidance but aren’t sure what your pet needs next.
A virtual consultation gives you direct access to a veterinarian who will help you understand what’s happening—and what to do next.
You might schedule a consultation if:
- Your pet’s condition has changed and you’re unsure how urgent it is
- You’re trying to decide between treatment, hospice, or euthanasia
- You want a second opinion or help understanding a diagnosis
- You or your pet has mobility issues or travel is stressful
- You’re preparing for or following up after an in-home visit
- You need ongoing hospice support and quality-of-life guidance
This is especially valuable for families navigating end-of-life decisions, where having time, space, and a calm conversation matters.
You don’t need more internet searching.
You need clear, professional guidance tailored to your pet.
What You'll Get
This is a private, one-on-one consultation focused entirely on your pet and your situation.
This is not a rushed Q&A or generic advice session.
Together, we will:
- Review your pet’s history and current concerns
- Assess quality of life and overall comfort
- Discuss realistic options and likely outcomes
- Create a clear, compassionate plan forward
You’ll leave with more than information—you’ll have direction and peace of mind.
how Virtual Care Works
For Established Clients (Ongoing Care)
If we’ve previously examined your pet, virtual visits may be used to:
- Monitor progression of disease
- Adjust care plans
- Provide continued hospice and palliative support
When appropriate, this may function as part of your pet’s ongoing medical care.
For New Clients (Guidance & Decision Support)
If your pet has not yet been examined, virtual consultations focus on:
- Education and guidance
- Quality-of-life assessment
- Helping you decide next steps
While diagnosis or prescriptions may require an in-person exam, this visit helps you reduce uncertainty, avoid unnecessary suffering, and make informed decisions quickly.
A Different Kind of Veterinary Care
This is not a quick “ask a vet” chat with generic answers.
You are working directly with a veterinarian who:
- Has extensive clinical experience with basic well-pet care and complex cases
- Specializes in hospice, end-of-life care, and quality-of-life assessment
- Integrates both conventional and holistic perspectives when appropriate
This is professional, thoughtful veterinary guidance, tailored to your pet and your situation.
Certifications and Experience Matter
Dr. Rider is Certified in:
- Palliative End-of-Life-Care
- Integrative modalities: acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapy, Tui-na (massage), and pet chiropractic care.

She also works closely with primary care and specialty veterinarians like oncologists, internists, and surgeons. Cooperation and continuity of care are critical in helping you help your pet.
Is Virtual Care Enough?
Sometimes, yes.
Often, it’s the first step.
If hands-on care is needed, we will talk through:
- Whether an in-home visit is appropriate
- Timing and urgency
- What to expect next
You’ll have more confidence moving forward.
Common Questions
Can you diagnose my pet virtually?
If I have not examined your pet, I cannot provide a formal diagnosis. However, I can help you understand what is most likely happening and what to do next.
Can you prescribe medications?
This depends on whether a valid veterinary-client-patient relationship has been established in accordance with state regulations.
Is this worth it if I’m not sure what’s wrong?
Yes—this is often when it’s most helpful. Uncertainty is exactly what we address.
