Hello Harmony Vet

Pet Hospice Care

Most people have difficulty knowing if their geriatric pet is in pain or if it is time for peaceful euthanasia.  We support families through the last steps of this journey by providing in home pet hospice and palliative care services.  Our wish is to empower pet care givers to make important decisions for their geriatric pets and to alleviate fears while traversing this part of the journey.  Pet hospice care is about increasing the quality of your pet’s life.  When it is time, we are honored to assist in giving them your last act of love.

As seniors transition from the Golden years to the Twighlight stage, it is often assumed little can be done to alleviate mobility issues, pain, anxiety, etc.  Many of our senior and geriatric pets do very well and still experience joy. Therefore families feel it’s just not time to say good bye.  However, is important to understand that there are many treatments available that can address and alleviate symptoms pet owners may notice.  Some of these include joint pain, muscle weakness, cognitive disorders, urinary incontinence, skin infections, occasional vomiting, weight loss and diarrhea, etc.

Caring beyond a cure

When they are beyond a cure, we can use palliative and hospice care to focus on your pet’s happiness by addressing pain, discomfort and anxiety.  We call this caring beyond a cure.  Hospice care is not about prolonging suffering, but about alleviating suffering until it is time to say good bye through peaceful euthanasia. Simply put, Hospice is a medically supervised dedidicated service to provising comfort and quality of life for the pet (and the owners) until euthanasia is elected or natural death occures.

Our Five-Step Strategy for Comprehensive Hospice and Palliative Care:

Hospice & Palliative Care vs. Senior Pet Care — What’s the Difference?

At Hello Harmony Vet, we understand how much you love your aging pet, and we offer care that supports them through all stages of life — from routine integrative treatments to thoughtful end-of-life support.

Senior Pet Care focuses on helping aging pets stay comfortable and active for as long as possible. This includes managing arthritis, nutrition, mobility issues, pain, anxiety, and other common age-related conditions. These visits include a full Western and Eastern exam along with integrative therapies like acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, laser therapy, and food therapy — if desired.

Hospice & Palliative Care is a distinct type of veterinary support offered when your pet is facing advanced, life-limiting illness or is in the final stages of life. Hospice care goes beyond routine senior wellness — it’s medically focused on assessing quality of life, managing complex symptoms, alleviating discomfort, and guiding you through difficult decisions as your pet approaches the end of their journey. This service is not simply a longer appointment — it involves in-depth evaluation of your pet’s condition, customized comfort plans, caregiver education, ongoing guidance, emotional support, and a pace of care that honors both the pet and the family.

We want every family to know that choosing hospice care is a loving choice, focused on comfort and dignity. If your senior pet doesn’t need this level of support but would benefit from integrative therapies to improve comfort and function, our senior pet care visits remain available at our regular treatment pricing.

Veterinary hospice is not prolonging suffering, its goal is to prevent suffering from occurring

It can be hard to tell when an aging pet is uncomfortable or when the kindest choice is to say goodbye. We walk alongside families during this emotional time, offering in-home pet hospice support and peaceful euthanasia services. Our goal is to help caregivers feel informed, supported, and confident as they make deeply personal decisions. When the moment arrives, it is our privilege to provide a calm, gentle passing at home — surrounded by love and familiarity.

What is Pet Hospice?

Hospice is simply a supervised medical service dedicated to providing comfort and quality of life for the pet (and the caregivers) until euthanasia is elected or natural death occurs.  It focuses on managing symptoms in geriatric pets, such as pain, weakness, behavior changes, and focuses on your pet’s happiness.

We understand your aging pet may have other issues besides pain, like urinary incontinence, skin & ear issues, and behavior changes. We take a holistic approach to your pet’s health.

Palliative care is utilized for advanced, progressive chronic disease, life-limiting disease, and terminal illness limitations.

House Calls

We understand the challendges of providing care for geriatric pets. Getting an arthritic and anxious pet out of the home can be difficult for both of you.

To serve you and your pet better, a mobile veterinarian will come to your home to perform an exam and counsel you on geriatric pet care, end-stage disease and administer therapies to make your pet more comfortable.
